Cruise to the Greek Isles and Eastern Mediterranean

Several of my friends wanted to go to the Greek Isles in fall of 2010, I came up with a great itiniry and a great ship at a great price. I reserved group space and I have a couple of cabins available with group benefits. My wife and I are travelling with this group, we have seen some of the ports, but we look forward to go back to the area where our civilization started.

If you have read other chapters of my website, you know that my favourite cruise ship is the Queen Mary 2 from Cunard. I love the understated elegance, the great food, the spa, etc. QM2 has a "little sister", the Queen Victoria and finally Cunard understood that the ship has not to go back all the way to England on each cruise. The ship leaves from Venice and ends in Rome with great ports in between. This was a great trip on one of newer queens - the Queen Victoria.

Venice is a great place to start and stay a day or two before you go on the cruise. This itinery offers several Greek Isles, Ephesus, Istanbul (overnight) and my favourite city in Italy, Rome. In these twelve days you will see a lot of the Eastern Mediterranean.
This cruise left Venice on October 31, 2010 and arrived in Rome on November 12, 2010. This date was chosen as offered a great variety of ports and the ports you are going to are not crowded like in summer. It has some advantages to travel off-season.
